A Sparrow Falls

A drop, a tiny tear falls.
A little angel cries.
This golden haired precious child,
Has seen a sparrow die.

She kneels beside its fallen form,
Strokes a soft, silk wing,
Feels its body, still yet warm,
Though it feels not anything.

Little eyes fill with tears,
As she holds its body tight,
She lays it down and all she hears,
Is the sparrows’ final flight.

So she stands up tall and walks away,
Dry-eyed, you cannot tell,
That this golden-hearted babe,
Cried as a sparrow fell.

nothing, NOTHING, is sadder

nothing, NOTHING, is sadder than when a bird flies into a window, except for maybe when it doesn't die right away.
This is a beautiful poem, and thanks for writing it.

almost

Wasn't quite what I was getting at, but you captured the sadness, and that was good. Glad you liked it :)
