Am I Invisible?

Standing here full of vigour
Am I just an imaginary figure?
People walking by in a rush
Talking in a whispered hush
Feeling excited I try to flirt
But my longing gaze, they do avert
Crossing the street, to get away
Scared by the thought, they might have to pay
Excuse me please do I smell
For I’m having a flipping day from hell
Perhaps if I pull a silly grin
And vigorously shake my empty tin
Someone might actually see
I’m collecting here for charity

Great One Andrew

I loved this poem Andrew especially the end part,it is typical of the public when someone is collecting for charity to avoid the collector as best he can.I do feel sorry for those who are collecting and people shy away from them as you described so well in your poem "Excuse me please do I smell"and loved the part where you vigorously shook your empty tin ,this poem had it all in it ,heartfelt and humour also thanks for sharing it. from Willow

Thanks Willow

Thanks Willow for your kind comments, I did a charity collection yesterday, and whilst most people were very generous, it was funny to watch quite a few avoiding me.
