Times Gone By
I pack my bags
mentally checking one by one.
I go through this monotonous phrase,
never sleeping, never stopping, only thinking.
Of times gone by
times never to return.
Times of joy, times of laughter, times of jokes
times turned dark.
Plagued with sorrow, and pain, misfortune too.
Ills that lead up to this time called Now.
I wipe tears away thinking;
Never mind, life goes on.
I know this vain, but I have no time left
For the truck has pulled up
screeching to a halt.
I get on knowing,
this is my new Now.

beautiful. just beautiful.
This poem hit a little close to home on the subject, just making me think about all the things that have happened and all the things I'll miss. It was told with the speaker in this accepting, betrayed, far away, deepest philosophical thought. I loved the way it was written that way.
