People who don't read well probably get the FEELING of the words
watch how they cringe as I write the word 'HURT'
and when it come to prizes who decides who deserves?
the girl with her boy beside her who keeps his eyes in her purse

on our final day, will we all change at once?
will all the world's fighters stop swinging mid-punch?
and if it's determined it's bad we'll stop eating meat mid-lunch
or you could start sooner and take a chance on a hunch

the pilgrims took shifts on ships to haul sails
us people have shifts that bring wages in pay-offs
every so often they bring someone who looks hard as nails
to re-route, redistribute, downsize or just lay off

perspective is the most peculiar word that I've known
though I don't know it that well as my logic has shown
or not shown, rather, as imbalance has grown
