If I had the time

If I had the time
I would read
The classics
“The Age” and
“40 Degrees South”
Regularly

If I had the time
I would write
Of small things
The strange glow
Of a shimmering white May bush
The haunting smile
Illuminating the face
Of a ragged child

If I had the time
I would notice you more

But time is a lock
And I am not quite the right key
Yet…
