Poetic Spaces

Where the mind awakens
The spirit soars
A sense of comfort
Stimulated by a need to express
A longing
A viewpoint
A dream

That is a poetic place

Sometimes
It may be a visual place
Exciting the boundaries of the senses
The haunting hush of a gentle waterfall
A wild garden
The eerie worlds of dense fog
Glimpses of other lives beyond the frame of a window
The visuals may create
Tranquil
Drifting poetry

Sometimes
It may be a place of sounds
Musical strings or drumming rhythms
A choir of birdsong
Or the cacophony of city streets

A place is poetic
If the senses lift
Into the aethers
Of mini-worlds
Worlds within worlds
Real or imagined

And then
There is the ultimate poetic place
The inner realms

Elie Weisel understood the poetry of numbness
Dark death of Auschwitz on the outside

But a tiny candle glow of life inside
