He Lives
If I were God, there would be no mercy.
All rain would be acid,
And lovers, walking hand in hand on a cloudy afternoon,
Would shriek as the drops of fire
Descended upon them.
If I were God, there would be no forgiveness.
Those who wronged me would feel my wrath,
And swirl into the vortex of my increasing rage,
Being twisted like the words they spoke,
And strangled by their extended olive branches.
If I were God, there would be no faith.
People would not trust one another,
And suspicion would bubble-
Under every look, every word,
Every smile.
When I find people who do not believe in God,
I want to tell them:
If I were God, even for one brief moment,
You would eat your words,
You would open your eyes,
You would feel the loss.

To some people in this
To some people in this world, it would seem that you are god.
I hope not
I surely hope people do not see God this way. If only hearts could be mended as I saw fit....
To some people in this
To some people in this world, it would seem that you are god.
Interesting
Hello,
I find this very interesting. Its a little confusing though are you trying to say that if a person thought they where good enough or loving and merciful enough to be GOD and had his power and authority that is the kind of thing that would end up happening to people. And in a round about way is this your way of emphasizing the true qualities of GOD by exhibiting what qualities one of us creations would do if we where GOD? I like some of the imagery just trying to grasp if this is part of an experience piece and or a message you want to convey to others. I appreciate your piece and will look at more of yours in the future. Thank you.

Either, Or
It means anything you want it to mean. That's the great thing about poetry- one person writes it, and another person can interpret it how they want. I was writing what is in my heart. Too many times, I've encountered people (friends, family, people I love) that do not believe in God, and it breaks my heart. These are the only words I had - this is how it surfaced.
