First Day

Nothing happened,
just as I suspected.

Rose from bed and showered,
went to the book store,
not sure if I went to see
if it was still there,
or to celebrate the fact,
that it still was there.

Eased over to the folks house
for greens and peas,
as always, needed more greens
than peas,
had my fill of both,
just in case.

On the way home,
thought of all the road kill,
of a thousand years of bad karma,
of thin dried, flattened pelts,
of millions, even billions of tiny bones
all along the road sides.

Waited for the second day,
nothing ever changes.
