The Road Of Excess
"The road of excess leads
to the palace of wisdom."
I once thought this
the greatest line ever written.
A motto of mottos.
With great zealous
I lived it,
breathed it,
ate it,
drank it,
spewed it,
woke with the vial taste of it,
raging in my mouth
every day.
Excess,
the darkest of darks,
for the brightest of lights,
Wisdom.
Seeing men in their lowest,
ungodliest hours,
wailing amoung them,
observing the beast,
while being the beast,
philosipher in black,
drunken voyeur.
Focus becomes unfocused,
life around you unravels,
blurrs,obscures,
is lost.
I tell you now!
"The road of excess leads
to living in the back
of a pick-up truck."

Liked it
Good write.
I wonder if
"With great zealous
I lived it,"
should be
"with great zeal"
?
I also sometimes wonder is it is true that "The road of excess leads
to the palace of wisdom.", but that the palace of wisdom is in a lousy neighborhood that no one in his right mind would ever even walk through without a baseball bat, much less want to live in.
