Theotokos (or "The Incarnation")

The Angel Gabriel came one night
(One starry, cold, remembered night)
To Mary, handmaid of the Lord
Who was to bear th' Incarnate Word.

She asked how this event could be
She knew no man, not one, not she
No man for her to bear in womb
The Son of God from cradle to tomb.

The Angel said it was through God,
The Shepherd with His staff and rod,
From Whom all came, and came to be,
By Whom this would happen to Mary.

She was the handmaid of the Lord,
To her was done St. Gabriel's word,
In her womb, she bore, as no other can
The Lord Christ Jesus, Saviour of Man.

An interesting piece; He will always be "The Reason for the Season"; nicely done. --Joe B.
