Angel (call and response)

Angel (part 1) by: Michelle Self

My little Angel,

She used to fly so high

But those boys they grabbed her down

So she no longer roams the sky.

I tried to take care of her

And mend her broken wing,

But for now her spirit is broken

And no longer will she sing.

Only she can fix this.

Only she can make herself well.

And this is the story

Of the day my angel fell.

Angel (reply) by: me

Laying down her head to sleep

Upon her companion's breast

She embraced her every sorrow

And laid her hope to rest.

The hurt was like a canker

Her wings broken like her heart

And though dawn was quick approaching

There was no faith in this new start.

But pushed by love and wisdom

Her companion seeked to quell

All of her angel's misery

So she could make her well.

And off she pushed her from her ledge

Into the morning sky

And fueled by her companion's love for her

She found the strength to fly.

Away away away from her

The angel sings her praise

And though often they are parted

She will love her all her days.

-Lauren

p.s. Gosh I suck at rhyming! Oh well, I tried so that's all that really matters, right? Well this was a call and response poem between my best friend and I. I tell her all of my problems and then she tries to cheer me up. This was just written today by the way. ^^ So brand new just for you. But poo, it's rhyming and I can't rhyme well…. But whatever. My second rhyming poem ever!
