Love
Love
Love is deviant
a sweet deception of the senses
a poisonous fusion of passion and chaos
the adulterer's justification
of the rape of one's innocence.
Love is not forever
nor is it tried and true
or faithful in the least.
Love is Don Juan's masquerade
an excuse to seduce the mind
into slavish obedience
to tear away the shroud of morality
and leave its victim helpless and alone
grim in their guilt and lost in their misery.
Love is simply a substitute for truth
a chance to escape
into those tense and quickening feelings
to hide in the stirring of the blood
and the sensations beneath the flesh
but in the end
the exchange of those three words decieves
and love is nothing but a lie
that even liars believe in.

Note: So yeah, the very first poem of the school year. Hopefully it'll be a good year!
So far this poem is more of a warm up than anything else. I did the same assignment last
year, so I'm looking at this as something to knock of the proverbial cobwebs. What can I
say, I haven't been into writing much lately, so I'm a bit apprehensive about this school
year. Haha, well if anything I like it better than when I did the assignment the last time! The last time I did it, out popped 'Lighter Fluid' which was definently not one of my good ones. I'm begining to wonder if this assignment is just stigmatic to me.. >.< Yeesh.
