Rosary

Rosary

My dreams of the future
Are like a rosary in my palm.
Each little bead
The descendant of a past memory or thought
That has blossomed into a resolution
A window that opens and closes
As I get older and wiser
More brow-beaten, more determined.
The polished wood represents
The luster of each fantasy
The soul of each imagined moment
And the brightly finished
Oakwood door of my adult life.
The ivory cross
Represents my crossroads and tribulations
Those that have passed
And those that have yet to come
It symbolizes my choices in life
The good and bad
The arrow straight paths I’ve cut myself
And the shaky overgrown gardens
In which I plow my insecurities.
And the body of Christ
Expresses the known truth
That no matter which way I go
I will find Him waiting for me
In the center of all things
Waiting, waiting for me to come home.
Looking down at the rosary in my palm, I realize
HE is my dream of the future.
