Side Walk Gum
Sidewalk Gum
Oh little piece of sidewalk gum
I wonder where you’ve been
In fingers drenched in sugar
Or a mouth that’s full of gin.
You’ve traveled high and low my friend
From tongue to lip to shoe
And gobbled up a rock or so
In your sticky residue.
And now you’re stuck to wait it out
On the chilly hallway ground
Listening for the school bell’s ring
That fateful hollow sound
That brings redemption from a boot
That will inevitably pick you up
And off you’ll go
One big gray blob
A piece of sidewalk gum.
