The Bridge

I stand at the edge and peer down
the chasm between us seems miles across.
My heart is ready to build a bridge halfway
but as I stand at the edge
I see nothing on the other side but
heaps of material and equipment.

There is no work, just the whistling of the wind
and I wonder has it all come to this?
To waste all that we had and all that we could be together.
I decide that though this may be a bridge to nowhere
I shall build my part.

Because my love for you is strong and unwavering
and though I only have half of what we need,
I will find a way, God will find a way.
For as he helps me to build my part of the bridge
let God build that bridge with you back to me.

When that bridge is built and we cross the divide to
hold each other again, I will hold you tightly and brush
your hair aside in the warm summer breeze and gently kiss your lips.
We shall walk back together and rejoin our life
together as one, in harmony, peace and love.
I love you Tracy.
