Poets, Will Be Poets

Poets will be poets, when...
We're wording how we feel
Projecting to the general pub'
Our thoughts of what is real

Tis' not the way I truely talk
In verses and in rhyme
But pen meets paper, and these words
Come streaming from my mind

And eventhough, this steady flow
May sometimes get annoying
I can not seem to let it go
With words... I can't stop toying

Can't hold in feelings, cutting out
Here, rumbling like a flood
I let them free to roam about
Although, they might be crud

I write these crazy feelings down
To capture your reaction
Whether smile or whether frown
'Can't Get No Satisfaction'

If it only be one line
That grapples your attention
Into your mind, where it does twine
Stifling it to detention

Maybe, they will make you cry
Maybe, they'll titillate
Some poems will leave you asking why
And some will aggrevate

But, I don't want to hesitate
To share them to you all
However, they may resonate
I just don't want to stall

Poets will be poets, when...
We mention something stupid
Or reach far to the depths within
And try to write like cupid

brilliant Bryce

I enjoyed this one Bryce a brilliant write and so true also I do try to write how I speak ,
but at the same time look for word to better what I have done so it looks a bit more poetic but I was told once to leave the poetic words to the old masters, and just write how I would speak like the masters did years ago because they spoke like that then
and that was from a critique,I suppose it is right really as people understand you more today than speaking in an old tongue of yesterday.

'New-Age Poets'...

You're right Willow, they tell us not to try and imitate anybody from the past((cause we're not trying to be laureates here))Although it would be damn nice to be.. But, just be normal and don't try to write all Shakespearian like know-it-alls.. you know?~~B.E.Coast

I think you are right too Bryce

Yes I think it stands to reason as people can relate to you more if you write how you would speak, some of the old master you have to read twice to understand there poems , from Willow

love it

clever, fun. raskin

Thanks Raskin..

4 your nice comments on my writes~~B.E.Coast

very, very fine poem, Bryce

Since I started writing poems I have experienced all the things you describe so well. Writing poetry makes you see and feel things so strongly! Everything seems to jump out at you.

Thanks for your great poem!

joyce

Right Joyce..

Just writing and getting it out of your system, and having people comment on it is good therapy~~B.E.Coast
