Shores of Yesterday

Out on the shores of yesterday

Under a skyline, cloaked in gray

Upon the coastal sands, I linger

Hearing tomorrow's constant ringer

To yesterday, I cling on to

Not willing yet to start anew

Beginning, in a brand new day

Stuck in this time, I want to stay

It holds the things I can't let go

The things that I already know

Don't ever want to cross that shore

To be unknowing anymore

Some things from yesterdays I've lost

Some things I've payed a hefty cost

I'd roam forever to get back

The things I've fumbled in the black

I wish I had a time machine

To wipe the clustered slate off clean

But then I know, there is not one

To make all my mistakes undone

Upon the shores of yesterday

Lingering, lingering, in the gray

I finally go and cross that line

Feeling tomorrow will be fine
