I saw her there

Once I saw her creeping my window
ran my fingers through her warmth,
Then saw her dancing from across my room;
Heard her sing hymns in the dark
and embraced me in the shivering cold.

Once I saw her knocking at our neighbor’s door
as she tell stories that were never yet told,
Then saw her teasing butterflies in the garden;
Cheering for the strength of the trees
and whistling with the beat of the leaves.

Once I saw her in the eyes of a child
stared through her depth,
Then saw her skipping rope with the lame;
Painting rainbows with the blind
and chanting songs with the deaf and the mute.

Once I saw her with an educator
teaching the kids how to live and love,
Then saw her amongst playing street children;
Walking barefoot with a vendor on the road
shielding her from the heat and the rain.

Once I saw her nudge a learner
and applauding at his pre-reading skills,
Then encouraging an examinee take his cool;
Whispering a prayer for a sick mother next door
and humming a lullaby to this baby in my womb.

Once I saw her writing a poem for her beloved
composing a tune for the love she has found,
Then caressing the figure of her work of art;
Delighting her senses with the hues of the horizon
feasting with the scent of ocean breeze.

Once I saw her shouting at the top of her voice
going wild like a bohemian in a charade,
Then keeping still in a stupor of some sort;
Thinking about the world in its ugliest and meanest form;
meditating on how to achieve balance of power.

Once I saw her partying like there was no tomorrow
waltzing with every man and woman,
Then touching every soul she meets along;
Figuring out how she can stay forever
bequeathing symmetry in an ever changing race.

Once I saw her sneak out of a home
after hearing one curse after another,
Then tears welling from her deep-set eyes;
A minute later, I saw her soaring against gravity
disappearing through the thick engulfing clouds.

Once I saw her escape from a disillusioned man
saw in her a faint hope to see him smile again,
Then grabbing an abused child away from her prey;
Assuring the unfortunate that all will be over soon
giving confidence to the scarred that the light will come.

Once I saw her fleeing from a hungry beggar
bleeding, only a centavo left in her slivered pocket,
Then wrenching depression out of his collared-sleeve;
Substantiating a meaningless existence find its purpose
ensuring that one day there will be homeostasis.

I saw her in a house of stone
and in a dilapidated area;
I saw her in the grandest towers
and in the slum areas;
I saw her in a luxurious suite
and in a ramshackled nook;
I saw her in glittering gown
and in a shabbied tee;
I saw her in a man in Porsche
and in an old scavenger’s cart;
I saw her in a child
and in an aged fellow;
I saw her among the educated
and amidst the ignorant;
I saw her among the elite
and amidst the less fortunate;
I saw her less among the proud
and more amidst the humble
I saw her feigned among the popular
and more real among the unpretentious;
I saw her simulated among the rich
and more sincere among the meager;
I saw her shammed by the affluent
and more heart-felt by the simple.

Yes… I saw her there.
I saw her here.
I saw her everywhere.

She is laughter.
She is joy.
She is happiness.

Come walk with her…
