Castle
Inherent...
Wearing my heart
on thy sleeve
I succumb to the pressure
I bow out,
I take my leave
Placing my heart
Behind a fortress
Anticipating my gatekeepers call
He comes to scale these tethered walls
Seeking entrance
With words of love, poetic rhythms
While I wait to feel the magic
Of the emotions I hide
For what seems like long ago,
His words captured my heart,
To a place I would fall
Continually....
All the way down
Where I would land waiting
While my writer's soul
Lay dormant in a dungeon
Chiseled out in the corner
Of my heart...
Waiting for it's release
With the beckoning of his words
And their tantalizing call

beautiful poem, carol
I love the gentle tone of your poetry. This one sounds like a lyrical fairy tale. Very well done!

much thanks
Thanks Joyce! I appreciate your comment!
nice poem
well, wearing your heart on your sleeve is the only way to find and keep true love... I guess we all have our " dungeons " we like to hide in for awhile... to refocus maybe ? But hopefully love always wins in the end !
so true
so true, I agree with you, hence "castle". All that really matters is love so it's always bound to win ...
