The Devils Train

A ghastly noise as it roared on
Black smoke and sparks from stack
And not a single rail beneath
No sign of railway track

It’s headlight piercing through the night
Just like a one eyed snake
With hissing steam and wheels that gleam
It makes your body shake

It’s charging down the road apace
No force can hold its sway
And people near they all take fear
Turn heel and run away

Except one man all full of puff
And evil on his side
Who thought he’d be a hero
Stand his ground and take a ride

So as it came he stepped aside
And found an open door
He took a swing and fell right in
And stumbled cross the floor

In blackened room he felt about
For handle, cord or brake
And very soon he came to see
He’d made a big mistake

He felt around on every part
The roof the walls the floor
But nothing could he find in there
He’d even lost the door

No handles wheels or features,
No buttons, gauge or locks
He found he was imprisoned
In a darkened metal box

Yes he was trapped as it rolled on
It had him in its grasp
This was to be his dying day
This was his very last

Because you see it’s not by chance
That he was bundled in
These trains are sent for evil folk
And this one came for him

So careful all you sinners
As you quiver there in fright
And fear a growing humming
Drumming louder in the night

For that train may be nearing
And it's you it seeks to meet
An open door, a carriage dark
And offer you a seat

Clemo
