my mind was restless
as i awakened with fright
the twisted fate of the accident
left me crying through the night

my mind raced with the image of the crash
as she was engulfed with flames
no one heard her final breath

i was wonder was her death instant,
or did it take a while?
either way the accident
took the life of a child

she was so young
she is so loved
the impact she made
only lasted that day

we all took it hard
and fell to the floor
her closest friends drank all night
then reopened that door

they should have learned from October Thirteenth
but instead got behind the wheel after taking another drink
