Coffee Shop Small Talk

Over a cup of tea
We sit, and you stir honey
Into a sea of wheeling steam.

We lean back and talk of idleness.
Your eyes are preoccupied,
As we graze on common distractions.
Such is the life we lead.

You look away,
But still your words drop
Like coins into my thoughts.
There they resonate and
Decorate my imagination.

What is your loose change,
A passing happenstance
Is something delectable to me,
A puzzle piece of a greater perplexity
We will never fully see.

I love this poem. Very fresh
