I Wonder Do You Ever Think Of Me

Though many years have passed, since I held you last-
you’re still in my heart and on my mind.
and when I think of you, as I often do-
then I wonder do you ever think of me.

Yes, I wonder do you ever think of me-
or am I just forgotten history.

I go to sleep at night, and dream about you-
and of our faded love of long ago.
and when I wake up dear, and know that you’re not here-
then I wonder do you ever dream of me.

Yes, I wonder do you ever dream of me-
or am I not even a subconscious memory.

The years have come and gone, memories linger on-
that time can not erase or time replace.
and when I think of you, as I often do-
then I wonder do you ever think of me.

Yes, I wonder do you ever think of me-
or am I just a faded memory.

Definitely a song lyric, I

Definitely a song lyric, I think. Nothing wrong with that. Could probably work in the bluegrass style too. Speaking of which there is (or at least was) a video on youtube of Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed playing "Summertime." The lyrics to that song are one of my favorites. The performance is, quite simply, to die for.

Now That's What I Call Poetry...

I love this, Curtis - a good poet is like a good performance artist - the ability to take their heart and expose it in all it's fragility and brokenness, joy and grief to a wider audience. I think this is what makes the difference between an artist and an actor. This poem is sheer artistry and brough a lump to my throat, because it evokes the memories and feelings common to all of us. Well done! (Actually, I think most of your stuff is pretty cool!)

Thank You Ulysses-

Curtis J. Forsythe

for your kind review of my poem and other comments.

Actually, as I said, it is best suited as lyrics for a country-western song. Although it has never actually been set to an original melody, it fits pretty well with that to "No One Will Ever Know."
