On Fields Of Strife

No man can say, for only God knows why-
one man will live while another will die.
But it is always so on fields of strife-
that some are chosen to lay down their life.

Comrades in arms are fighting side by side-
one will live, the other death must abide.
But it is always so on fields of strife-
that some are chosen to lay down their life.

No man can say how he would face that day-
if he would stand and fight or run away.
But it is always so on fields of strife-
that some choose freely to lay down their life.

Brave men all, those who stand to fight and live-
and those that are called on their all to give.
But is always so on fields of strife
that some will be destined to pay the price.

Hey, that's some nice iambic

Hey, that's some nice iambic pentameter you got goin' there. Subject-wise it feels like Alan Seeger's "I Have A Rendezvous With Death." Nice job!

Some few in that, but Numbers err in this,
Ten Censure wrong for one who Writes amiss;
A Fool might once himself alone expose,
Now One in Verse makes many more in Prose.
-- Alexander Pope
