The Facts of Life
When I was not more than a wee young lad
life was good and I was seldom sad
Thoughts turned to the girl next door
baseball games and so little more
My first kiss and my first car
the first drive inn movie
where I didn't get far
My first true love my first real job
my first son I named him Bob
Then came a time when work had to be done
put food on the table and play with my son
Pay the bills and save for school
I'm not quite so young
and not quite so cool
My son now has a girl of his own
once in a while
he calls on the phone
As for myself I sit and think
of those days when life was pink
Now I'm not young and I'm not cool
I feel more like a lonely old fool
But now as my life nears it's end
I ask you if you would be an old mans friend
not too close just out of reach
for these life lessons
I'm here to teach

I think this was well written
Good Job... you paint a good image with your words, boy, to man, to dad to friend. I enjoyed the read.
