Honesty?
Honestly,
Sometimes I wonder,
Is it possible to be this stupid?
To get life wrong,
Again and again.
Is anyone as consistant as me?
Even if the options are but two,
I make the wrong choice,
Take the wrong turn,
Say the wrong words,
React the wrong way.
Did you ever stop to consider,
That I'm just being me?
Honest me.
"Honesty is the best policy" after all,
Someone as stupid as myself,
Thought of that little gem!
Consider this,
If my choices,
If my words,
If my reactions,
Are me.
Then maybe, just maybe,
Your choice in me was wrong.
Oh but wait,
There's a flaw in that statement,
You can't be wrong!
How stupid of me!
There was me, being honest,
Being me,
And it's wrong!
I should have realised,
I'm old enough to have learnt by now!
Of course, my mistake.
"Honesty is the best policy"
Think that phrase should be,
"Honesty is a lonely policy"

An Interesting Write
here, Dave. Great insight, and it encourages the mind to ponder on these things.

Its definately worth exploring this new style and trying to develop different tecniques.
I noticed this was very different from your other work, and like what you are expresing here.
Debs ;. )
is being lonely worse...
Is being lonely worse than being wrong all the time?
That's something many of us have to struggle with. I think married people tend to criticize each other to an extent where you can't always be yourself. That is sad. We all need a "No Judgement Zone" like Planet Fitness has.
Thanks for a very interesting and well-written poem.

Thanks Joyce
For taking the time to read and comment on this piece. In answer to your question, is being lonely worse than being wrong all the time?, I don't know if I know the answer to that. I guess it's an indivdual thing, everyone handles/copes with situations differently, good thing too! otherwise we would all be the same and how boring would that be?!
This piece was a different style for me, I wasn't sure whether to post it or not, I'm glad that I did now because of the comments left, it's always good to see how a piece is recieved, if it be good or bad.
Thanks again Joyce for reading and commenting, I'm enjoying your work as well,
Take care
