Songbird
Soaring songbird in the sky,
Floating in the blue so high,
Oh how peaceful it must be,
With just the clouds for company.
Catch your breath atop a tree,
Oh what landscape you must see,
Heading south for winter sun,
To live a life of warmth and fun.
Soaring songbird, why can't it be,
That I be you and you be me?
Oh to be so free, exempt,
From all of human race contempt.

Indeed!
Freedom in the true sense of the word. I like the tranquility of this piece Dave, and the flow. It's very easy to digest unlike my writes!
very beautiful, Dave
I love the first two lines of the last stanza! I, too, would like to soar, and sing, like a songbird. Thanks for the great poem.

Dreaming of Freedom
David,
I believe we have all harbored these dreams of the freedom to just up and fly away from the corruption and crap that is stifling the lives of the human species. Oh, were it possible.
Nice thoughts,
Pete

very much. Nothing complicated, just simple lines that tell so much. There's a tinge of jealousy here? I echo the sentiments. Nice piece.
Thank You
