The Clutch
I drag it underneath
'Cos I've got the gearbox out,
This is gonna make me sweat,
Of that there is no doubt.
It's big and round and heavy,
And really weighs to much,
I'd sooner lift the wife up,
Than a Spicer twin plate clutch.
Anyway, thats enough chat,
I've got to get this done,
I grunt and groan and heavily breathe
And blood runs out my bum.
I've got it up, it's nearly there,
I'm struggling with a bolt,
What a way to earn a crust,
For any sane adult.
That's it! It's in! Thank Christ for that!
I nearly didn't make it,
I've cut my hand and hurt my knee,
But at least I didn't break it.
As I finish off, the phone goes
And unleashes all my fears,
As the driver on the end says
"I can't get no fucking gears!"

I know nothing about, and
I know nothing about, and want to know nothing about, engines, cars, trucks ... but I have to admit that this "rant" style appealed to me somewhat. And it's pretty funny, my friend. But you need to watch your spelling, though; and your meter fails on a number of occasions. The running of blood seems out of place as well, I'm not sure how it might happen while performing the task described.
But as I said, this is strangely compelling. Thanks for the read.
Thank You
For commenting on this piece, have never thought of my writing as a "rant" style, but after reading some of my work again, I think it's a very good description. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, my lack of education coming to bite me in the arse there!! Ha ha. The " running of blood" as you put it, is a somewhat crude way of saying that something is physically very demanding, as you can imagine, truck workshops are very "macho" places. I'm glad it appealed to you at some level, because I'm guessing it would not be the kind of thing you would normally read. Thank you again for your comments and apologies again for spelling errors,
Dave
