Woman in Child
'Oh, woman in child
What dare do you dare;
The wind's in its warren
The rain's in your hair,
The tides of the spirit
Are tides of the moon,
What mysteries ferret
Sweet love in your womb.'
'Womb-woman in child,
What witch do you wear;
Sad King's in his carriage
Wild spell's in the air,
Such wonder has pealed
From you never before,
My child's in your bracken;
My heart's on your shore.'

Amazing
David,
Your ability to write like you were from another century is miraculous and it produces things seldom seen on this particular site. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a real fan.
Hope to hear from you,
Pete
Poetry
Thanks Pete,
I think the fact that I was brought up in England by a Scottish father and Welsh mother, both of whom were interested in poetry, helped. At the age of four I clearly remember my father sitting me on his lap and reading me 'Cargoes' by John Masefield, and 'Steamers" by Rudyard Kipling. So I was raised with the English poets rather than the American ones, which gives a slightly different tinge to the subject material and the way in which it is written. David.
Thanks for responding
David,
I want you to know that I am as enthralled with your story telling ability as well as your style. When I sit down to write, the story is the thing with me. I have had no training whatsoever, I just write what feels right to me. I often believe I have a different metronome inside my head because occasionally people will tell me that my rhythm is off but to me it sounds right on.
I have gained a great deal of respect for your skill and nothing would please me more than to have you read a few of my offerings and share your thoughts with me. If you haven't already noticed I have plenty to choose from as I tend to be quite prolific. I am a published poet. My book of 434 poems was published in March of 2006 and I am very proud of that accomplishment. I never did it to get rich, that would be foolhardy, I did it to be remembered.
Again, I thank you for responding and I'm proud to have you as a member of my buddy list.
Respectfully,
Pete
