Hurricanes
Birthed in warm waters of the ocean it grows, Watch it on radar, guessing where it goes.
Nothing to do, but move out of it's way.
Powerless over this hurricane's day.
Board up the windows, secure the house tight, Gives us the illusion, that we stand and fight.
Impotent are we in a hurricanes wake, Leave or hide is the decision we make.
The wrong choice, can kill you, you know. Walls of water and wind take life in it's flow.
This baby has one purpose in life from the sea. Grow, blow, move, kill, then cease to be.
The hurricanes over, the skies are blue, People are finding the things that are true.
All family intact, but the house is gone. We will build again, life goes on.
We watch on radar Guessing where it goes, Birth in warm waters of the ocean, not again there she grows.

Implacable
That is the word that comes to mind when I think of Nature's tantrums. "Impotent are we in a hurricane's wake" says it all. I actually got a chill thinking about not only the destruction but the temperature dropping and being damp or soaking wet, at the very least, for days on end. Well done.
You can meet God in the church of your choice
You can meet Woody Guthrie in Brooklyn State Hospital
You know, it's only my opinion, I may be right or wrong
But you can find both in the Grand Canyon at sundown

Implacable
What you think about, you bring about.
I like that word. It does come to mind. Thanks for the input and taking time to write it.

Bingo
Deb,
Living here in Florida and living through a few of these monsters I can tell you that your description of their life's purpose is entirely apt. Charly was a true bastard when he came through here. The following morning the neighborhood looked like a war zone.
Well written my friend,

storm
Well written. Insightful. Experienced one? Particularly like the first line, and, "People are finding the things that are true". Any disaster puts life in proper perspective.
no
What you think about, you bring about.
No I have only experienced tornadoes, this was all drawn from watching tv. Amazing thing tv, so rich with things to write about.
