Slip Away

When the sun is low and the rays are high
I believe in that light and paint a sky
With blissful hues of thought and feeling
Then it’s gone and I am kneeling
At the mouth of all I know
Regrets and anger simmer below
They saw a love and chose to use it
Fake it take it and abuse it
Now the sun is high and the rays are low
I watch a moment slip and go
That secret place shrouded in shame
Concealed deep within to stifle the pain
Nothing has changed to the eye
Just a dream which silently died

I read this piece three times and am trying my best to completely understand it. Are you saying that someone came into your life and promoted love but it was not a genuine love. Over time you realized that the love was only one sided (your side) and the other party was just playing you? This is not an unfamilar scenario, unfortunately it happens quite often, no matter whether the player is a he or a she. Did I come close with this synopsis or am I way off base?
