Getting There

Will the detritus of travels
Of my uncharted life
One day grow heavy?
And in my weariness
I’ll ask myself
Do I know
Where I’m headed?
Will I reach there?

I’ve meandered
And dabbled
Sometimes hovering
Above myself
Sometimes
Staying still
My mind taking
Me anywhere

Some women let me
Live in their hearts
And oft cast me out
For sins of omission
Is such retribution
The revoking of passion
That burned bright
The previous night?

And now I’ve found you
Let me live in your mind
In its joys and sorrows
At decisions you make
Facing your tomorrows
Helplessly, Hopefully
Always at your side
Let me say – “I’ve arrived”

Thanks all for those encouraging words. I know that I put out some drivel, but when I share what’s in my heart it comes out right.
