The Waltz
The Waltz
If you put me on a pedestal
You’ll see my feet of clay
So let’s waltz at eye level,
And all’s well today
There’s not much good to find in me,
So don’t look me in the eye,
Shield yours, and you’ll not see
My chicanery, deceit, and lie
For I am a human draught piece
Inhabiting a circumscribed board,
Moving to capture, win and seize
Count my booty, defend that hoard
So let’s dance this waltz for its sake,
Sweep, sway and twirl
Your silken body is not my cake
I’m here just for a whirl
Your love is amongst decent men
In whose gentle society you grow
I’m above and beyond their ken
I’m not from Vienna, you know.

Dolan,
This piece was an interesting admission of a cad who knows his predilections and makes no bones about them. A simple waltz can do ho harm as long as your partner walks away unencumbered with your salacious charm secretly infused.
Well written and fun for an old one time cad to read.
Pete
Both sides of the coin?
Thanks Willow and Pete for your comments. I would lean towards Willow's assessment of the writer. I like what Pete says about salacious charm. Any charm I'll buy, in this age of hunk.
Thanks both of you
