If I Say

If I say I'll marry you
will you put up a line
so the wash will always
smell of the sun? Will you raise me
a bed for a garden of green, a place
to tendril sweetpea vines?
Will you lie with me
on a hammock at night and point
out the stars that you've seen
in my eyes? Will you always,
forever return for my kiss
even after four children's
fledglings have flown?
Will you promise me this
if we marry?

Thanks, angel. Love poems

Thanks, angel. Love poems are probably one of the most difficult to write well, so I'm glad you found it well-worded and meaningful.

That little poem has good things going for it - most enjoyable. Thanks for the read / Dunc

Yo, Dunc

I know this one walks perilously close to the saccharine line, but I like to think it has enough redeeming qualities to pull it back. Glad you enjoyed and found it to your liking. Donna Smith

Lovely...

A wonderful poem...if only they kept their promises though LOL...
