The Pioneer Wife Leaves a Note for Her Husband
Dear Charles,
The wagon is a piece of workmanship.
You've spent so many hours together
in the barn, tending to each other's
needs, caressing each inch with plane
and brush. I see your loving touch
in every part tongue and grooved, and see
the way your eyes follow the curve
of the wheels. I wanted you to know
that if you'd spent as much time climbing
on top of me as you did that damned wagon,
the dust cloud still visible down the trail
wouldn't have me and Frank Martin ahead of it.
Yours no longer,
Martha

This is such a great piece. Very smart and funny too.

Thanks, Deborah. My husband
Thanks, Deborah. My husband has built one chuck wagon from the wheels up and refurbished another, plus another wagon. I shared the gist of the poem with him, but not the actual content. I'm not sure he'd find it all that funny. :)

Re: Humor
I think he'd get a kick out of it...and maybe spend a little more quality time with his Missus.
PS
Wonderfully funny poem.
Thanks, Edouard. But,
