Stepping Aside into the Snow
Along the thin shoveled path came opposed an old man and child.
The frail thing stepped aside in the snow and let the boy pass clear.
The frozen ice fell down his boots and shocked his digits wild,
And without a thought the child was gone, around the bend just near.
With all your collected wisdom and your many tens of years
Why do you bow to the naive and ever ignorant youth,
He who without accomplishments, he without broken down tears?
He without respect; the hateful, brutal, uncouth?
He steps aside for what he sees as an unmolested truth,
The pure potential, no choices made to limit oneself beyond.
He without legacy is free to break any bone and chip any tooth
On the road to infinity, finding the line of best fit to firm bond.
The boy of course is not grateful nor does he feel any dismay.
To the man the other is everything. To the child, one less hurdle in the way.
