Vietnam Wall

I stand there thinking
Looking at your name
Etched in to polished black stone
Next to all of those other names
All young boys who shouldn’t be there
Your name is there for all to see
Thought I am the only one here today
I see my self reflected in the stone
My helpless face searching for answers
Can I not find it here?
Among all the gifts left for men, boys
The letters left near the name
Illegible now but once told of heart ace
How could this had happened
You where so young
You did not even know why you where there
For a long time after the war
We all still prayed, hoped
That we where alive
MIA was not always bad right?
But you never returned
I look from the picture I left here
Our prom picture
You where so hansom
With jet black hair
Next me, with long brown hair
I thought we would be together forever
But tragity took you
I look at your name
At my self with long gray hair
I can almost see you
Forever frozen
Forever 19
Forever with jet black hair
I know I will see you again
Till then I will miss you
I will pray for you
I know you are not alone
But I will be with you
One day I will be there
One day

Wow!

This sent chills up and down my spine. The subject matter brings on some fierce emotion.
Great write.
