As the Sun Sets
Don't look into my eyes;
I don't want you to see me cry.
Every tear is but another guilt;
Guilt that I'd not wish on you.
It's not your fault that I'm this way,
Nor your fault that I love you...
It's the fault of my blind-loving heart;
That set its sights on you.
Don't look into my eyes;
I don't want you to see me lie.
So when I say I didn't mean it;
You won't think that I loved you.
Don't look into my eyes;
I don't want you to watch me die...
In your arms I'll gladly lie,
But look away, all guilt--deny.
And please don't look into my eyes;
I don't want you to watch me cry.
I thought love could leave me alive;
But all it did was make me die...
And so we're here as sunset fades,
Look at the beauty of the sky...
I love you, I do not deny;
But, watch the sun, and let me die...
...alive.
