A Game of Life (Dance Dance Revolution)

Yes, I still play D.D.R.,
But my life seems such a game...
Am I really playing the game?
Or is the game playing me?

For, with every step back,
I remember his face.
He broke my heart, and kept a piece,
And left me there to die,
The back of my heart still loves him,
And that same step always makes
me wonder why...

With every step to my left,
I remember my pain,
What I felt for those who left me,
For those who hurt me,
For myself...
I cry harder the harder my heart beats,
and step harder to try to pound it away.

With every step to my right,
I can cherish my friends,
Those few who stood at my side.
The strength that they gave me,
The care that they showed,
I always remember,
When I step to my right.

For every step forward,
I see your face,
It's like you're always standing
in front of me.
Though it's only a dream,
You gave me the belief to love again,
So every step forward is taken for you.

So perhaps the game has run my life,
Or my life has run the game.
But for all those people I remember when I play the game,
When I play the night away,
And, through my memories, I'm quite on my own,
Always remember--
I've always preferred to dance alone.
