Cruel Irony
I don't understand you anymore
One for the people
Is now for yourself
No matter how you try
To make us believe
That you're still the same
How everyone else has refused to evolve
But I won't participate in the game of "politics"
I'm keen to smashing illusions
Not raping the "American Dream"
There in lies the difference
Between you and me.
I still cry tears for the common man
You're hell bent on exploiting him
Everyone shall have a voice in the "plan"
But proceed with your agenda
While searching for a castle that doesn't exist
But we should be satisfied with a humble abode
Grateful we're kissing dirt
Instead of death..
Freedom isn't out of sight
Nor out of mind
The latter applies to you
How long will you overcompensate
For love that your mother never gave you?
She's left of center but the apple
Didn't fall too far from the tree
One not of knowledge, but from decay.
It doesn't bother me
You're climbing the ladder of success
Never finding peace and comfort
But all the sycophants massaging your ego
Is a recipe for a tragic malady
That has a cure
But vision remains blurred
With dollar signs and pats on the back
To even consider there is
A window looking into your madness
But the law of the universe
Is a constant reminder
That one is the last to realize
They've reached the abyss
You, my friend
Are headed for such a fate
But you won't turn back
Reveling in the maxims of power
Be careful..my dear
The view from the top
Can be a dangerous fall
Into the tentacles of
Cruel irony
Hope...I'm wrong..
