Holy Ghost
Sorry for assuming
You needed space
When you really desired
A warm embrace
The kindest word
Yet I delivered
A cold slap across your face.
Apologies for the excuses
That continually pile up
Until I lose track
But they don't compare
To the disease staring
Square in your eyes
I'm the joke
Nobody's laughing
I'm dying inside
Feeling insignificant
But it's not about me
Concerns you
Us
And you can no longer
Trust anything that flows
From my mouth so awkwardly
If you cared to touch my soul
You would surely drown
From the sadness and love
I have for you.
Sorry for the sentimentality
But it's a tragedy
Of biblical proportions
The ending I pray is rewritten
It didn't have to be this way
If only I reached out not in spirit
But in the flesh.
