I'm constantly leaving
You're intent on staying
Yesterday was the reverse
Ambivalence is a curse
And it doesn't have to be
We see what we desire
But lately the fire barely
A one alarm and
We're finding out
Charm can only take us so far
The stars in your eyes
Merely a flicker
We wanted contentment
Received it in spades
Doubts creeping in
That if we got it made
Only a letdown will follow
Arriving at an impasse
Expanding on ways to sabotage
Hopping into beds over town
Isn't the cure when
The obvious conclusion
Is waiting for me in your arms
Hearth, home and children
I can see so clearly
But sometimes I don't believe
It's worthy of me
For I love you more then anything
From this bunker
Including myself
This soul needs a through rinsing
Clean and pure
Until its muddied again
Damn, you're so pretty
Really think highly of you
With enough respect to feed
A third world continuously
Yet, I find it so easy
To munch constantly on negativity
Inevitably poisoning us
We don't want to be alone, orphaned
Living without a home
But it's gonna take more
Then money and good intentions
To keep us together forever
Pondering the crack in the mirror.
