Lonely People

Change is in the air
So is the rocking chair
Taped boxes
Notes lie astray
Souls in transit
Hearts stuck in mud
The curse of complacency...

Middle aged couple
Bored and satisfied
Lonely people
Searching for a spark
Shouldn't we be fighting?
A childish lark frolicking
In the sheets applying makeup
After spilling spite?

Ungrazed pasture
Flowers swaying in the wind
Two tombstones
Groaning to be touched, held
Repentant from sin
Let's not travel down
This destructive road again
Ego obstructs the pleasant view
Make a sharp turn
Before we end up like the killer nerds
Obsessed with doom...

Eaking away breath precious
Soiling upon confessions
There's still time
2 reverse shallow tracks
I don't know about you
It feels dead in here
Shall we pretend that
The cards are stacked against us?
Manufacture motivation
A standing ovation
For the most pretentious drama
Ever ill-conceived.

Let's stop dreaming
Cause it doesn't exist
It's over and all
We have are physical beings
Trudging, huffing
Shoveling dirt upon regret
Expecting the worst
Receiving the shaft
Conditioned heads
It's not your fault
We covet the blame
Talk can go only so far
Shouldn't we be acting it out instead?
Despite what we think
We ain't scraping the bottom of the barrel yet.
