Love Is A Preposition

Love Is A Preposition
Living on cigarettes and coffee
Energy dwindling but I must stay strong
Do something important, meaningful
Eventually promising a crash landing
A place 2 sleep for days.

In this rat race
Just for you
Sometimes, I wonder
Why I even bother
God, I must love you
Or love to struggle
Fate will determine
The ultimate conclusion.

Living from pay 2 pay
Yearning 2 save for a way
Out of this small town
But best intentions are
Thrown out of the proverbial window
Rich get richer
Middle class becomes a ghost
Yes, It's a cliche
But I can't say it any better
Cause all of my letters
2 the politicians who profess 2 care
Just tossed and shredded
As there's more bloodletting 2 be done.

Living for a future
A marriage and a kid
Whatever lies in store
We must have our plans
Detailed to the dotted I
Lately it's been a chore
Just 2 survive
Perhaps it's a lesson
In humility from above
But why must we shove
Just to seize the daily bread
Or sew a thread about tattered clothing?
Decent human beings saying hello
Opening up doors seem
2 be taken for granted and sent
2 the cleaners while
The A-moral, immoral
Are championed, rewarded
Does that make any sense to you?
If traveling all these miles
With nothing to show proves anything
Its that experience and wisdom
Don't pay the bills.
