Million And One
One million points of light
Waiting to be connected
Wonderful thought
Pristine beauty of it all
Perhaps tomorrow it won't be a dream
What seems natural
Can sometimes be fleeting
As..
I'm about to be thrown
From this high horse
Humbled...back to the womb
Destiny awaits just ahead
Yet waking up with uncertainty
Is another excuse to stay in bed.
I can't let you down
Just one sip and puff away
From reclaiming my domain
In the underground
God awful loneliness where
Darkness pervades the tomb
Where did I lose the ability to trust?
I'd love to meet someone dear
Not a coward who cowers in fear
Every time we're seen in public
Just because it doesn't look right!
Appearances screwed for deception
Here's a confession for you
I am what you see
Nothing more or less
Does such honesty disturb you?
Who is the biggest fool
For quitting the game before it began?
It depends on who has the most to lose...
We had a connection once
You doubt we ever did
Yet no matter how obvious
I would have postulated
The cards were stacked against us
Cynical nature...Twisted projection
It's hard to believe in love
Question every last motive
Analyze how each word was spoken
I can't be a pawn slaughtered
Or a token thoughtlessly bartered
I want to be considered special
A warm thought during the day
Is that too much to ask?
You don't know how I yearn
To bask in the sun after
A trial by fire in the darkness
Forgiven.. Just to sleep peacefully tonight
Soon a million and one points of light.
