WAR NO MORE

Just stop going to war,
simply slam the door,
vow forever, "No More War!"
At last released,
the fighting ceased,
the olive branch,
the white dove's flight
would soothe the savage,
ravaged beast,
erase the terrors in the night.
Or would we rather be deceased,
responsibility released?

With daily news so grim
of wars from to rim to rim,
soliders maimed in dirty rooms,
coffins wrapped in glory shrouds,
never mind the waiting tombs,
the tear stained faces bowed,
with no regrets allowed.
The Reaper Grim runs amok,
runs alone through zones of war,
women and children out of luck,
huddled together
in bombed out shells,
or cross the borders
to other hells,
grusome struggles to stay alive,
mourning those
who never survived.

But, our democracy they lack,
historic lore will see to that,
countries sad, demoralized,
hellish wars unauthorized,
their total freedom's all endowed.
Like the snowy cotton's weevil,
all devastating wars are evil.

No matter what you hear,
war is seldom ever hell,
no matter what you hear,
all is rosey, all is well.
