A Story To Be Told

request all your many answers,
commence the asking, let it begin,
there's a sign hanging on my heart,
and it's labeled 'inquire within'

so, unlock the many layers,
unleash a tale so old,
release my inner hideout,
where lies a story to be told...

one of pain and sorrow,
one of loss and lies,
some of joy and smiles,
mixed with many goodbyes

there's been craziness in my soul,
and intrigue knocking at my door,
life filled with grief for mankind,
and years of internal war...

it's one of ups and downs,
one of true heartache,
some faith and hope,
and hurt I couldn't take

there's been contentment at my core,
and self-doubt nagging at my skull,
life overflowing with fear for the world,
and years of a blunted, numbed-out lull...

*but a quiet murmur has settled in...
one of quiet truth for all my sins...*

*and a subtle strenght has made its way...
one of subtle growth from every day...*

maybe that's why it calls to me,
as it seems to constantly unfold...
there's a story here among the ruins,
a damaged one, perhaps, but a story to be told...

torn t-shirt, good for inspiration...

it's true, there's no denying the faded colors of my shirt but it makes for good poetry! thanks for your feedback, be well, shelby J.
