You're Standing There

You're standing there your face in a frown
You condemn me and try to put me down
But you don't know the roads I have taken
You say I'll be sorry for all I've forsaken
I won't try to explain for it would take to long
And I am not sure who is right or wrong
If you need to make me over you don't need me at all
For I'll not succumb you'll not make me feel small
Nor will you take the sparkle from my eye
Nor clip my wings when I want to fly
It's my life and I'll live as I choose
And it will be I that pays should I loose
You say it's a shame the talent I waste
That I have thrown away my class and my taste
I guess it depends which side you are on
Just what is still here and what has gone
Look in the mirror and what do you see
Are you sure your so much better then me
So much living to do,so much to share
So I'll go on alone, while you're standing there
