The Darkest Words
The Darkest Words
Always start off the same
I don’t blame them
I wouldn’t know
There’s something about the weather
Or maybe
I’m sorry for your loss
Or
How’s everyone handling it?
It.
Reminded me
of a time when you were close
when you laughed and smiled open faced with joy
that time on the beach when—Stop
Time to hold on to this.
I can’t. It’s empty. Nothing.
A muted scene scrolled before me
You’re missing but not gone
I’ve lost something
I can never gain.
Back—I try to think of what you looked like.
It's strange I cant see you
cant hear you –I miss the sound
Of your voice?
How you said my name?
Your face is pale, skin is loose.
Solid—but not whole.
This isn’t you.
You left this behind.
Not me. Not us.
I know you’re here
All that’s left to say
I haven’t said before
Never seemed right
The darkest words with the brightest of meaning
Something simple.
Move on—take care.
Someday
I’ll be there.

Brilliant.
Brilliant-- simple but painfully brilliant.
I like this
you said it very well:
"your face is pale, skin is loose
solid - but not whole
this isn't you
you left this behind"
you captured the loss and shock!
thank you

Thank you. It means a lot to know that someone else enjoyed it. This was a poem that i wrote one night out of no where i got the idea and went with it. Once again, thank you for the comment.
