Fantasy Hunt

It’s a beautiful sunny morning,
Camouflage ready for hunting,
Blue jays and crows are singing,
Chipmunks and squirrels are running,
Whitetail doe’s are drinking,
Black tail bucks are walking…

Hiking up the mountain,
Historical red wood trees stand tall,
Just had to drop my jaw,
Loaded up the Remington 270 caliber,
Won’t pull the trigger until I’m sure,
Gaze upon a roaring water fall,
Kodak moment, took a picture of what I saw,
Been a two mile hike,
Still no big foot in site…

Passing by the mountain flats,
Pass by two mountain cats
Chasing an family of quails,
On top of a boulder, a lizard with no tail,
Soaring up above, a hawk with red tail,
Been a four mile hike,
Still no big foot in site…

Now standing by the water stream,
Vision blinded by the sun beam,
Shook off the blindness,
And in a quickness,
Spot a black bear hanging on a tree,
Pinch myself to make sure it’s not an illusion,
Now have to take a one shot kill, before it flee,
Quickly got into the shooting position…

Look into the scope, heart beating rapidly,
Hands are sweating, got to act quickly,
Aiming for the neck, finger on the trigger,
Inside the scope, bear looks ten times bigger,
Bang! The bear drops; a direct hit,
Now the hunt is really worth it,
Walks to the black bear, and tags it!
